La Jolla Gliderport Engagement

Chloe + Devin La Jolla Engagement Photos

Let me tell you about Chloe and Devin. HOLY CRAP, they are the cutest stinking couple in the whole world. Not only are they beautiful people, but their hearts are literally made of gold. They are the sweetest human beings I’ve met in a really long time - that kind of nice that just makes you want to be around them forever and ever!

Chloe and Devin met via some mutual friends (Chloe’s church friends, Devin’s college friends) who said they needed to meet! One week, Chloe was living in Atlanta, and Devin just to happened to have a layover there, so they met up for drinks, and the rest is history!

I love that it was partially set-up, and partially by chance! They knew pretty much immediately that they were meant to be together - they are getting married less than one year after they met! It TRULY is a “when you know, you know” type of love. (And I can be a witness to this! Getting to meet so many couples all the time, there are a few that I just think - WOW they are so in love.)

When Devin proposed, it was a 100000% surprise to Chloe (which I am a huge fan of!) In Chloe’s words, “Devin had invited me to spend a weekend with his grandparents in October for a little fishing and beach trip. When I arrived we had planned to grab drinks and then celebrate his sister and her fiancé that were joining us for the weekend. They had just gotten engaged so we planned to do a mini celebratory cheese and charcuterie on the beach when I arrived.

As we were walking down the beach to meet them, Devin started asking me some deep questions, and we came up on this surf board that said "Marry Me" and of course I said yes! He had both of our families waiting in an airbnb house right behind us to spend the weekend as we celebrated together! He did SO good.” Is that perfect or WHAT.

I loved every second spent at the shoot with these two - they are so genuine and fun to be around, and treated me like a queen. Yes, THEY treated ME like a queen?! I mean, I have a ton of amazing clients, but sometimes I’m just shocked as I’m reminded how great people truly are. I loved how open Chloe + Devin were with me about being nervous or feeling awkward, because that always helps to break down those barriers so much.

Once that ice was broken, they started to feel so much more comfortable, and they transformed into naturals in front of the camera! I kept reminding myself to take photos, because I kept just wanting to put my camera down and just hang out with them!

This is one of my favorite locations to shoot at in San Diego. I love shooting at the top of a cliff looking over a beach - when you’re up so high above the ocean, the ocean turns from the sliver that it is on the beach, and looks so big, and takes up so much more of the background of the image.

The ocean is one of my favorite things on this planet, and I feel honored to be able to capture it so often. She came out to play for these engagement photos 😍

I’m really excited and happy with how these photos turned out. They wanted that classic engagement photo vibe, with the twist of the blurry photos that I love so much, and some editorial-looking unique images that are more artistic, to use as art in their home together!

We shot well into blue hour (after the sun has gone down), and got some really dark, moody, grainy goodness that comes out after the sun goes down. Enjoy 😘
