Sunrise Elopement Tibble Fork Reservoir

This shoot was unreal. And I don’t mean that in the way of out of this world crazy fun. I mean that against the odds this session turned out so much better than I could’ve expected.

The weekend this was shot was nuts! A good friend and I had flown out to Utah for a styled content day as well as this styled shoot at Tibble Fork Reservoir near American Fork!  Thinking everything would be fine and dandy, it didn’t occur to us that we’d be shooting for a grand total of 18 hours during a 48 hour trip! Oh boy, to say we were toast is probably an understatement.

But when Sunday morning’s alarm went off cueing us to hit the road, we got up and embraced the idea that we wouldn’t be running around during this session. We’d just see what happened in the quiet.  And that’s where magic happened.

Most photographers these days love the crazy energy, throwing people around, getting those candids and I’m all for it. Heck that’s the kind of photographer I am when I’m properly rested.

For this shoot with Caroline and Brax, there was a quiet, calm and romantic sense that completely surrounded them.  They took our cues, and vision for the shoot and brought it to the next level.

Our inspiration came from the beauty of winter.  The cold temperatures and almost clean, quiet serenity that comes from a hibernating nature.  The kind of winter that happens in the New Year, after the Christmas season, when the world is eager for what’s to come and still grounded by  what’s important.  And I think we really nailed that. So I hope you enjoy this beautiful, quiet morning we had.

PS. To anyone willing to get up early and dance in the sunrise, look no further! There’s a completely different kind of magic in those early hours and I’m itching to capture it again.
